Montour Falls, the home of several US World Rounds, is noted for it's extremely big hills and fantastic variety of terrain. No doubt that is the reason it was selected for a World GP. Knowing this, it is a fair assumption you will at some point during the trial be using full power to get up some of the big hills. Preparation for an event requiring full throttle operation should include a new spark plug, clean air filter and clean carburetor. You do not want your bike running poorly in the middle of a big climb.

Spark plugs can get dirty during normal slow speed operation where temperatures in the combustion chamber remain low, preventing all the oil from burning. When you are wide open with the throttle on a big hill, it is easy to foul an old spark plug when the residual oil gets stirred up under full power demands. A fresh new plug is more tolerant when full throttle demands are required.

Make sure your air filter is clean because a dirty filter can contribute to poor top-end performance. Clean your carburetor to make sure there is no dirt or water in the float bowl. It takes only a small speck of dirt or water to plug up the main jet. The main jet nozzle controls fuel from half throttle on up to wide open. Often dirt or water gets sucked into the jet at full throttle and will plug up the opening in the jet. When you let off the throttle, the obstruction may fall back into the bottom of the float bowl and your bike will come back to life. However the next time you go to the throttle, the problem can repeat because water is heavier than gas and cannot be sucked all the way through the jet.
